The Lenten Tree Exchange

To help prepare our families for Lent, SGC is sponsoring “The Lenten Tree” ornament exchange. A symbol is placed on the Lenten tree each day during the forty days of Lent. The devotions begins on Ash Wednesday and continue each day through Holy Saturday, finishing with a devotion to celebrate the Resurrection of Our Lord on Easter Sunday. The tree includes 41 symbols or ornaments. Each participant chooses one of the symbols and makes 41 of the same ornament to represent the symbol. We’ll exchange ornaments at February’s MTO at the home of Jennie Punswick February 5th at 7pm. The ornaments are displayed on a small ornament tree that can be found online in a wide selection of materials and prices. The accompanying book is The Lenten Tree - Devotions for Children and Adults to prepare for Christ's Death and His Resurrection by Dean Lambert Smith.

A Lenten Tree is a special gift for godchildren, nieces and nephews and grandparents. Have one for each of your children—it will make a special keepsake and a tradition they can take to heir own families one day. Just sign up for additional ornaments to receive additional sets.

A simple Google search will give you ideas on your ornament; even the craft-challenged can do this! You are welcome to email me if you need additional ideas for how to create your ornament. If you are interested in the exchange, please email me back with your selection or selections.

Blessings,
Jennie Punswick
