LENT

Can you believe we are only a few days away from the start of LENT? What are you (as well as your family) planning on doing during Lent this year? Giving up anything? Doing anything extra? Share your ideas with all of us who haven't completely decided yet what are plans are for this season.

My plans so far:
Going one time during the week to daily mass (with the kids).
To cut out "snacking" between meals and no candy/cookies/junk food.
Doing the Lenten Tree devotions every day.

MARRIAGE, THE SACRAMENT

LIKE THE EUCHARIST, marriage is
the giving and receiving of flesh and blood
for the life of the world,
a literal dying of self so that others may live abundantly.

LIKE BAPTISM, it is a birth into a greater communion,
a literal bestowal and revelation of life.

LIKE CONFIRMATION, it is a gradual growth
into mutual responsibility, a confirmation of
one another's being - body, soul, and spirit.

LIKE RECONCILIATION, marriage is a daily
practice and the school of forgiveness par excellence.

LIKE PRIESTHOOD, marriage becomes a ministry
of counsel and grace to another.

LIKE AN ANOINTING, as of the sick, it is a repeated
giving and receiving of healing touch.

MARRIAGE - here human flesh experiences
the wonder of divine love.
Here mutual rest becomes Sabbath refreshment,
conversation an entrance into the life of the Word,
and one another's company a presentiment
of the life of the Trinity.

Prayer for Married Couples

Last night at our monthly meeting we had a husband and wife couple who spoke on relationships. They passed out some prayer cards I thought would be great to share.

PRAYER FOR MARRIED COUPLES

Almighty and eternal God,
You blessed the union of married couples so that they might reflect the union of Christ with his Church:
look with kindness on them.
Renew their marriage covenant,
increase your love in them,
and strenghten their bond of peace
so that, with their children,
they may always rejoice in the gift of
your blessing.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
